Mother's Day

April showers bring May flowers and May flowers make great Mother's Day gifts but it's not going to be quite that easy this year. Here are some other ideas to help you celebrate your favorite lady - quarantine style.

All you need is sunshine and creativity!

Nature is still open (call it an essential business) so make mom her favorite foods and find a spot to dine.

Be sure to check on any restrictions/guidelines for gatherings in your local area or simply find the finest spot of grass in the yard.

Grab your face masks and get outside!

Like we said, nature is still open! Walk around the neighborhood on opposite sides of the street or find a fun local trail to explore... enjoy each other's company outside of the house!

A little nature therapy, fresh air, sunshine and exercise does the body, and the immune system, good.

What mom really needs, after being stuck at home with all of you, is a damn break!

What mom really wants is a massage, a mani/pedi, a hair cut and some alone time.

A good gift card goes a long way and also helps support a local business. Many local salons + spas are doing the "buy now, use later" concept- where you buy gift cards that will be valid once they're back open! Bonus? Most places are giving discounts as incentives to purchase!

Don't wanna make her wait? You can always order some at-home spa treatments for her to use in the meantime!

This is still one of the biggest brunch days of the year so don't skip it - order brunch to go! Here are some local spots still serving up their Mother's Day specialties...

Take out will be available from 12-7pm with entree options ranging from Prime Rib to Vegetable Raviolis. I'm sure Mom would love a slice of that Limoncello Mascarpone Layer Cake - I know I would! Is mom a golfer? The course will be opening back up on May 11th (NH residents only) maybe schedule her a tee time instead!

This "Mother's Day Take Away" meal will be crafted with fresh and local ingredients. Epoch was voted one of the best brunch spots in New Hampshire so you know it's going to be good! Call ahead to order yours from 11am-3pm

A New Hampshire staple for classic New England fare. Indulge in some Lobster Mac n Cheese, feast on some surf and turf, treat Mom to a nice big lobster roll why don't ya? Call ahead for curbside pickup from 4-7pm

Mother's Day is another one of those special holidays that's big for small businesses. Don't just assume that an event has been completely canceled, a lot of them are just being rescheduled with dates TBD. Our social calendars are going to be PACKED when this is all over! We might just want to go back into quarantine...

What BWG is looking forward to...

Brunch & Bubbles @ Flag Hill Distillery & Winery

297 North River Road, Lee, NH

This is a wonderful event that takes place once a month running from May through October.

Each month they host a special farm to table brunch complete with sparkling wine and a mimosa bar!

A fun, and tasty, experience to support local businesses, try new local food and have a couple cocktails!

Seacoast Wineries Barrel Tasting Weekend

A weekend full of wine tasting at 5 local New Hampshire Wineries!

Straight from the barrels of Appolo Vineyards, Flag Hill Distillery and Winery, Squamscott Vineyard, Sweet Baby Vineyard, and Zorvino Vineyards- sip yourself through the weekend with local vino!

Tickets are only $15 and include 4 samples at each location and a souvenir wine glass.

This is a must. We of course recommend a local MOM + Pop shop florist if Mom lives close. This also ensures the flowers are fresh and at their best presentation for Mom when they arrive!

However- If you plan on shipping flowers, you don't have to compromise their freshness when you order from Farm Girl Flowers!

They are our absolutely favorite new obsession. This California florist hand-creates every beautiful bouquet, wraps them up in burlap and ships nationwide! Check out the recent bouquet we received just the other week. Best part? They're still alive and kickin' since Farmgirl provides you with food and care instructions.

Each bouquet also comes with fun social cards (see our picture below)- so don't forget to give them a shout out and share your flower deliveries on the 'gram!

Making sure Mom knows you're thinking of her and that she's appreciated doesn't require gifts to be sent or money to be spent to make sure she knows.

If all else fails- simply pick up the phone and give Mom a call. It's the little things that mean the most to Mom.

And yes. A call. On the phone.

Not a text.

Whatever you end up doing this Quarantine Mother's Day, make sure you make Mom feel special.

She deserves it.
